Assistant Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Assistant Maintenance Technician with mining experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in diesel generators, mechanical systems, and general maintenance within the mining industry. This role will support the maintenance team in ensuring the optimal performance of mining equipment and machinery.

• Assist in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel generators and mechanical systems used in mining operations.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
• Support the installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Perform fault diagnosis and assist in repairs under the guidance of senior technicians.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and reports.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to improve maintenance efficiency.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

• Minimum Education: Trade Certificate/National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in maintenance within the mining industry.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with diesel generators, pumps, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical equipment.
• Safety Awareness: Understanding of mining safety standards and best practices.
• Skills: Strong problem solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and good teamwork capabilities.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a demanding environment with occasional lifting and manual labour.
• Certifications (Preferred): Valid driver's licence, First Aid, and relevant mining safety certifications. Red permit holders will receive first preference.
