Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Business Project Manager who will also act as the SMS Project Owner, based at the Head Office in Modderfontein, Johannesburg.

This role sits at the intersection of business operations, systems, and strategy. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the SMS system across Southern Africa, ensuring it drives operational excellence across Service and New Equipment divisions.

You will bridge business needs and technical capability, translate user requirements into system improvements, and deliver measurable business value through structured project management and process optimisation.

This is a hands on leadership role requiring visibility, influence, and strong cross functional engagement.

Key Responsibilities 1. Project Ownership & Execution
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables aligned with business priorities
  • Lead and deliver strategic business and system projects on time and within budget
  • Act as the main point of contact for all internal users concerning SMS
  • Oversee system related initiatives including enhancements, mobility tools, and improvement requests
  • Ensure governance standards and compliance processes are adhered to
2. Stakeholder & System Management
  • Serve as the central liaison between internal users, LTI, and IT/DT teams
  • Translate business needs into structured system requirements
  • Open, track, and follow up on tickets through to resolution and closure
  • Facilitate communication between leadership, operational teams, IT, and external partners
  • Prepare and present dashboards, reports, and project updates to senior stakeholders
3. Business Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Conduct business needs assessments and convert findings into actionable project plans
  • Analyse existing operational processes and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Drive system adoption and ensure effective utilisation across all user categories
  • Support change management initiatives including training and communication
4. Training & System Adoption
  • Provide initial and refresher training on SMS modules
  • Enhance tool appropriation across Service, Sales, Field, Finance, HR, and IT/DT
  • Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for system related matters

5. Performance & Reporting

  • Monitor KPIs and reporting dashboards (Power BI, Datapoint)
  • Track ROI and benefits realisation post implementation
  • Ensure deliverables meet defined quality standards and business expectations
Profile

This role requires a strong Generalist Engineer or Business Systems Project Manager who can operate confidently across technical and commercial environments.

You will need a deep understanding of:

  • Service and New Equipment business models
  • ERP and system deployment environments (including SMS and JDE integration)
  • IT/business alignment
  • KPI frameworks and reporting dashboards
  • Cross functional stakeholder environments
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 3-5+ years' experience in project management, ERP deployment, or business transformation roles
  • Strong knowledge of Waterfall, Agile, and PMO methodologies
  • Proven experience in ERP or system implementation projects
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Jira, Power BI or similar tools
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to influence across departments
  • Local language (mother tongue) and English fluency
