Job Description

Medipost Pharmacy is looking for a professional self driven individual to join the Order Processing Department in the capacity of a Cluster Pharmacist. The successful individual will be placed in Gezina (Pretoria).

Primary purpose of the job
  • Accurate capturing of prescriptions, acute and/or chronic medication. (As per SOP)
  • Accurate blind checking of claimed prescription and patient medication templates. (As per SOP) with the urgency of adding prescriptions to WIP and minimise script rejections.
  • Handling of clinical discussion and/or enquiries with patients and health care professionals or SPN's
  • Compliance to SLA requirements (completing of mailbox profiles, action diaries within required timelines)
  • Attending to and responding in a professional manner to email messages or enquiries received from management, SPN's or members.
  • Attending to OUT OF WIP notifications
  • Attending to ST71 notifications
  • Attending to rejected prescriptions and templates as priority, in order to ensure SLA compliance.
  • Attending of SOP training and SOP revision training
  • Compliance with Company Policies, Procedures and SOP's
  • Engagement with pharmacist assistants (Clinical enquiries, training, coaching)
  • Be the responsible pharmacist in the allocated smaller groups in terms of Pharmacist assistant training and mentoring as per Line manager guidance. As Pharmacists be responsible for Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) and pharmacist code of conduct compliance in the cluster.
  • Handling of double dispensing queries and to assist in a resolution
  • First call attempts to patients/prescriber before an action is sent to an administrator mailbox for any follow up work that is required.
Specific Requirements
  • Attending to St 13's and ST 71 reports
  • Service failure interventions will be applicable if service failures are not maintained at an average of 0 to 0.75 service failures per month, which equates to a maximum of 3 service failures over a 4-month (quarterly) period.
  • Expected output during probation period communicated by line manager, as per career path level
  • An understanding of the implications of making errors in a pharmacy or healthcare environment.

  • Willingness to work overtime when required by management
  • Continuous professional development - attending training or forums.
  • CPD and involvements as Tutor
  • Group pharmacist initiated activities, mentoring and training of the Pharmacist Assistants
  • Willingness to assist with stock take if required.
  • Willingness to assist in other departments where there is an operational need.
  • Inter departmental training and assistance as needed.
  • Participation in team building activities
Operational requirements
  • Completion of daily allocated work according to level requirement
  • Accuracy when Blind checking and capturing
  • Attending to action diaries
  • MML adherence
  • Competency in SOP assessments
Customer service and internal process compliance (Quality assurance)
  • Focus on minimising errors and customer related complaints as per QA, IPC and Customer care logs or other reporting platforms - maintain a service failure rate on an average of 0 to 0.75 service failures per month, which equates to a maximum of 3 service failures over a 4-month (quarterly) period.
  • Compliance with SOPs
  • Compliance and response on e mails regarding service failures or errors logged, within the required timelines
Productivity and Time management

Productive and available according to hours as stipulated in contract.

ESS: Responsibility to manage leave in accordance with company policies.

Eco time compliance: Daily clocking procedures in accordance with company policies

Training: Proof of training sessions held on a weekly basis with Pharmacist assistants

Grade 12

Experience

Minimum 1 year as a pharmacist, including internship and community service

Need to be registered at SAPC

Training Required

Medipost APP system training, SLA training, company policies and procedures, computer literacy. MHRS on line authorisation system, ESS, etc.

Competencies

Verbal and written communication skills, listening skills, patience, empathy, conflict resolution, customer service orientation, accuracy, data capturing skills, interpersonal skills and relationship building skills, able to work under pressure, adaptability, effective time management, detail orientated.

Sound knowledge on GPP (Good pharmacy practice) and pharmacy acts.
