Dental Assistant - HPCSA Registered
Job Description
Medical Resources Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a dental practice in Sandton, for a qualified and professional Dental Assistant to join their clinical team. The successful candidate will support the Dentist in both clinical and administrative functions, ensuring a high standard of patient care, infection control, and efficient practice operations. This role is ideal for a registered Dental Assistant who is organised, patient-focused, and experienced in working within a private dental practice environment.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Assistance- Assist the Dentist during dental procedures and patient treatments
- Prepare and organise instruments and materials for procedures
- Mix materials - Vitrebond, Kalzinol, glass ionomers, alginate, and Impregum
- Ensure patients are comfortable and informed before and during treatment
- Assist with cleanings, fillings, impressions, extractions, root canals, and orthodontics
- Maintain a clean and organised treatment area
- Sterilise instruments according to infection control protocols
- Clean and autoclave instruments and equipment
- Load and unload the autoclave and ensure proper operation
- Maintain daily cleaning and monitoring of sterilisation equipment
- Ensure dental handpieces are cleaned and maintained daily
- Identify equipment or instrument issues and report them for repair or replacement
- Maintain developer and mixer bottles where applicable
- Ensure proper reprocessing of dental equipment and instruments
- Assist with dental-related administrative duties when required
- Support patient preparation and interaction within the practice
- Maintain accurate patient and clinical documentation
- Registered Dental Assistant with HPCSA (Essential)
- Dental Assisting Certificate (Essential)
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Dental Assistant in a private practice or clinic environment
- Computer literacy and Solumed program experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional and patient-focused
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Able to work efficiently in a clinical environment
- Knowledgeable in infection control and sterilisation protocols
- A team player with a positive attitude
Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 17:00; Friday: 08:00 - 14:00
