Job Summary Technically qualified petrol or diesel artisan responsible for managing all aspects of passenger, commercial and specialised assets maintenance management on behalf of fleet customers and AVMS owned assets. Executing well on the respective managed maintenance business strategy and operational processes. Ensuring that you work well withing a team and participate in constructive team discussions and ensuring team support where and when required by the team leaders and management of the AVMS business. Job Description Receive, assess, and manage maintenance and repair authorisation requests submitted via calls and electronic quote systems from approved merchants and suppliers Accurately load, scrutinise, and authorise maintenance and repair quotes in line with approved mandates, fleet policies, and operational protocols Evaluate repair requests to ensure technical justification, cost accuracy, and appropriateness of work, including labour rates and flat-rate application Review vehicle maintenance history to identify justified repairs, warranty claims, goodwill opportunities, and prevent unnecessary expenditure Actively identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities while maintaining required quality and safety standards Ensure quality assurance of all authorised work, including cause-of-failure analysis and diagnostic report validation Manage diagnostic reports and technical assessments to support accurate and informed authorisation decisions Maintain high levels of responsiveness, meeting required turnaround times, reaction times, and service expectations Liaise effectively with service providers, suppliers, internal teams, and call centre agents to ensure accurate and timely completion of authorisations Provide technical guidance and advice to call centre agents and customers regarding vehicle faults, repairs, and maintenance requirements Handle customer and supplier queries or disputes professionally to ensure a smooth and effective authorisation process Demonstrate strong problem-solving capability, identifying root causes of technical issues and recommending practical solutions Maintain a high standard of attention to detail while managing multiple concurrent authorisation requests Contribute positively to team collaboration, supporting colleagues and assisting with workload management when required Take full accountability for authorisation decisions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to risk controls Conduct work with professionalism, respect, and adaptability, remaining effective under pressure and adjusting to changing prioritiesExperience and Education Required• Red Seal Trade Certificate (Section 26D) as a Qualified Diesel Mechanic• Higher Certificate or equivalent NQF level 6 qualificationMechanical Engineering, Transport and Economics, Supply Chain, Business Management Studies• Seven (7) years or more experience within a Managed Maintenance and/or Operating Leasing and/or Fleet Management Contact Centre environment• Experience in managing the maintenance of commercial vehicles Education Higher Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required) Absa Bank Limited is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.
