Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with the Foundation Phase Curriculum (Grades R).
  • Implement innovative, child-centred teaching approaches that foster curiosity, exploration, and active learning.
  • Integrate thinking-based approaches into daily instruction to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Deliver Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Based Learning experiences that promote inquiry and real-world application.
  • Demonstrate strong digital literacy and integrate technology seamlessly into teaching and learning activities.
  • Differentiate instruction and facilitate focus group activities.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that supports emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a dynamic, professional teaching team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to sport and extra-mural activities by supervising, coaching, or supporting school programmes.
  • Participate actively in school events, assemblies, and celebrations.
  • Contribute positively to the broader school community and culture.
Qualifications
  • B. Ed Degree Foundation Phase qualification and appropriate educational experience.
  • SACE registration (proof thereof).
  • Able to plan, assess, record, and report on the Grade R Curriculum.
  • Innovative, creative, child-centred, and passionate approach to teaching and the broader life of the school.
  • Knowledge of a thinking approach to teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Familiarity with Problem-Based Learning and Project-Based Learning models.
  • Knowledge and experience of focus group activities; differentiated Maths and Literacy programmes.
  • A thorough understanding of 21st Century educational skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills and the ability to integrate IT into teaching and learning effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a dynamic team of committed teachers.
  • Sound organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to sport / extra-murals.
  • Police, Sexual Offenders Register and Child Protection Act clearances.
  • Updated CV with at least 2 recent contactable referees.
