GC Solar is proud to partner with the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) to offer a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme for the Occupational Certificate: Solar Photovoltaic Standalone Service Technician (NQF Level 5).
This learnership is designed for employed individuals with practical experience in solar PV installation or maintenance who wish to formalise and certify their skills. Successful candidates will undergo a structured RPL process, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
Requirements- Currently employed in a solar PV or related electrical/technical role.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant practical experience.
- Basic understanding of solar PV systems and electrical principles.
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate (advantageous).
- Willingness to commit to the full duration of the learnership.
- Reside in or be able to commute to the Western Cape for training sessions.
- Participate in RPL assessment and gap training as required.
- Complete theoretical modules and practical assignments.
- Attend scheduled workshops and site-based training.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Submit portfolios of evidence and undergo final summative assessment.
- Collaborate with mentors and assessors throughout the programme.
- Fully funded training and certification.
- Formal recognition of existing skills and experience.
- Improved career prospects within the renewable energy sector.

- Certificate issued by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) upon successful completion.
