Lecturer in Architectural Technology and Interior Design
Job Description
To facilitate students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in the discipline of Architectural Technology & Interior Design, by integrating theoretical and pragmatic knowledge that is locally and globally relevant and in alignment with the vision of the department and the university. To participate in and contribute to research and innovation, postgraduate student supervision, contribute to community, discipline and professional engagement as well as being involved in the core functions of the University.
Key Performance Areas- To lead and manage studio-based education in architectural design, advanced building construction and CAD
- To conduct, participate in and publish research output.
- To perform administrative work.
- Participate in postgraduate student supervision.
- Perform academic, community and discipline engagements.
- Contribute to quality of the programmes, programme and accreditation reviews.
- In-depth knowledge of design process and design studio management at undergraduate and advanced diploma levels.
- In-depth knowledge in advanced building construction concepts, techniques and systems and building regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of Architectural software such as AUTOCAD, SKETCH-UP, COREL SUIT, REVIT and/or 3Dsmax.
- In-depth knowledge of the application of sustainable environmental control systems in the design of buildings.
- Have the potential to contribute to knowledge creation by virtue of publications and/or the potential to contribute by virtue of the introduction of new learning material.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Lecturer - In order to be considered for appointment, the candidate must have:
- A relevant M+5 (Masters) qualification in:
- Architectural Technology
- Interior Design
- Architecture
- At least 2 years of relevant work/practice experience.
- Valid registration with:
- SACAP (the South African Council for Architectural Profession)
- IID (The African Institute of the Interior Design Professions)
- Submit academic results and an A3 portfolio of selected work undertaken in private practice (technological architectural experience will be given preferences).
- Proof of SACAP/IID registration - Date of registration.
- Proof of work/practical experience with references - How long has the candidate been working.
- Proof of qualifications - What is the highest qualification.
- South African Identification document required.
According to HR salary scale at peromness level 8.
