Job Description

A fast-growing and entrepreneurial long-distance transport company is seeking a hands-on and financially astute Operations & Logistics Controller to oversee logistics operations across multiple depots while maintaining strong financial control over fleet costs, fuel management, route profitability, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily logistics operations across multiple routes and depots
  • Monitor fleet utilization and route efficiency
  • Coordinate with depot managers and fleet teams
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements
  • Support contract execution (mining and long-distance routes)
  • Monitor diesel usage and bulk fuel controls
  • Track route profitability and operational cost allocation
  • Manage operational floats and expense controls
  • Ensure accurate data collection from depots
  • Work closely with accounting to ensure financial accuracy
  • Provide operational and cost performance reports to management
  • Monitor KPIs (fuel consumption, maintenance, downtime, route margins)
  • Assist in decision-making regarding expansion and fleet deployment
Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Transport, or Finance
  • 3-7 years' Experience in Transport/Fleet Operations
  • Advanced Excel (non-negotiable)
  • Transport or Long-Distance Fleet experience
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Willingness to travel to depots
  • Must be hands-on, resilient, solutions-driven, and field-oriented
