Job Purpose

To provide frontline administrative, optical sales, and patient support services, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for all patients entering the practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome patients, manage appointments, and maintain daily scheduling systems.
  • Perform patient check in and assist with medical aid verification and billing.
  • Guide patients through frame and lens selection based on prescription and lifestyle needs.
  • Dispense and fit glasses and contact lenses as per the Optometrist's prescription.
  • Manage till point, daily cash up, and retail stock administration.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and follow up communications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception and retail area.
  • Support basic lens ordering processes and communication with suppliers.
  • Assist with patient recalls, marketing efforts, and practice promotions.
  • Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with POPIA.
Working Conditions
  • Fast paced, customer facing retail clinic environment.
  • Required to work shifts, including Saturdays, depending on branch needs.
  • Standing for long periods and managing patient foot traffic.
Requirements Required Qualifications
  • Matric / Grade 12 (minimum requirement).
  • Optical dispensing / Opticianary Diploma or relevant healthcare customer service experience is advantageous.
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an optical, retail healthcare, or customer service role preferred.
  • Knowledge of lenses, frames, and optical terms is a strong advantage.
