Job Description

We are expanding our manufacturing team and seeking skilled, quality-focused operators to join the Display & Sublimation production line across three critical stations: Print Operator, Press Operator, and Laser Cutter Operator.

You will play a key role in producing consistent, high-quality output while adhering to safety, quality, and delivery standards. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, proactive problem solvers with strong ownership and teamwork.

Key Roles & Responsibilities 1) Production Display & Sublimation Print Operator

Purpose: Ensure consistent, high-quality printing while minimizing waste, downtime, and rework.

Core Duties:

  • Operate large-format, dye sublimation, textile, or latex printers per job specifications.
  • Review job cards and artwork; confirm correct media, ink, colour profile, and resolution.
  • Check ink levels, temperature, humidity, and machine readiness; run test prints and obtain approvals.
  • Load media with correct alignment; monitor output for colour accuracy, banding, and alignment.
  • Stop production immediately when defects occur; record quantities produced and rejected.
  • Post-run: label prints, clean print heads/platen/area, complete production & quality logs, report issues.

Quality & Safety:

  • Ensure prints meet colour and resolution standards; record/isolate rework or rejects.
  • Follow machine safety procedures and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.
2) Press Operator

Purpose: Achieve accurate and consistent heat pressing for required sublimation/transfer quality.

Core Duties:

  • Operate Monti and heat press machines safely and precisely.
  • Review job cards and pressing instructions; verify fabric type and transfer requirements.
  • Preheat machines; confirm temperature, pressure, dwell time/speed settings.
  • Load materials consistently; inspect items continuously for defects (ghosting, fading, misalignment).
  • Post-run: stack/cool correctly, separate defective items, clean press surfaces/work area, update records.

Quality & Safety:

  • Ensure pressing quality meets standards; elevate issues promptly.
  • Follow heat safety protocols; use heat-resistant PPE; maintain housekeeping.
3) Laser Cutter Machine Operator

Purpose: Deliver safe, accurate, and efficient laser cutting with minimal waste and downtime.

Core Duties:

  • Operate laser cutting machines per specifications and safety standards.
  • Review job cards and cutting files; confirm material type, thickness, size.
  • Check focus, speed, power, and safety systems; ensure extraction/ventilation is active.
  • Load and secure materials; monitor cutting quality and alignment; stop for hazards/defects.
  • Post-run: remove/label cut items, dispose of waste safely, clean bed/optics (as trained), complete logs.

Quality & Safety:

  • Ensure cuts are clean, accurate, consistent; record deviations/defects.
  • Never leave machine unattended while operating; maintain housekeeping.
General Production Support (All Roles)
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with supervisors and planners.
  • Adhere to job cards, SOPs, and quality standards across all processes.
  • Escalate issues early (machine, material, quality) with clear documentation.
  • Contribute to 5S/housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with related tasks such as basic cleaning, organising, labelling, packing, and staging work in progress.
Minimum Requirements

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Hands on experience in a production/manufacturing environment (print/press/laser advantageous).
  • Understanding of print files, colour profiles, media handling (Print Operator).
  • Knowledge of fabric types, heat settings, pressing techniques (Press Operator).
  • Ability to set laser parameters (speed, power, focus) and read cutting files (Laser Operator).
  • Basic troubleshooting and quality control mindset.
  • Computer literacy for logging and basic job tracking.

PPE & Compliance:

  • Use of required PPE at all times; adherence to safety, SOPs, and company policies.
Education & Experience
  • Required: Matric/Grade 12 (or equivalent).
  • Advantageous: Technical certificate or prior experience in large format printing, sublimation/heat press, or laser cutting; exposure to ERP/job cards and basic QA tools.
