About the Role

Our client in the consulting engineering sector is seeking a Professionally Registered Senior Civil Engineer to join their Cape Town office to lead the delivery of civil infrastructure projects. The role involves overseeing design, managing projects and contracts, mentoring technical teams, and ensuring compliance with quality and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead civil engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Support clients with project planning, feasibility, and funding strategies.
  • Develop and review engineering designs, ensuring practical and efficient solutions.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and present technical reports and project documentation.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop project teams, including engineers and draughtsmen.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality standards and industry regulations.
  • Conduct design reviews for own projects and assist with reviews of others' work.
  • Develop project budgets, monitor resources, and control financial performance.
  • Prepare technical specifications, tender documentation, and manage construction contracts.
  • Contribute to business development through client engagement, tendering, and identifying future opportunities.
  • Support training initiatives and staff development within the division.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Registration with ECSA (PrEng) required.
  • 8-12 years' experience in civil engineering, including the design and supervision of civil works (roads, stormwater, sewer, and water systems), project management, and contract administration.
  • Design experience should encompass all facets of township engineering.
  • Skilled in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other relevant engineering design and project management tools.
  • Experience in municipal or urban civil infrastructure projects is preferred.
