SQ1 Recruitment is partnering with a leading technology solutions provider in the construction and mining sector to appoint a Sales Application Engineer based in Centurion (hybrid model). This pivotal role combines pre- and post-sales technical support with strategic key account management, ensuring customers receive tailored, high-performance solutions while driving long-term account growth. Key Responsibilities Pre-Sales Technical Support
  • Partner with the sales team and customers to understand operational needs and technical specifications.
  • Provide technical consultations, solution design, and tailored product recommendations.
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations, presentations, and technical workshops.
  • Prepare detailed technical proposals, RFQs/RFP responses, and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments, ensuring solutions meet compliance and application standards.
  • Contribute to cost estimations and technical risk evaluations during the quotation process.
Solution Development & Application Engineering
  • Customize and configure solutions to meet specific customer and industry requirements.
  • Interpret technical drawings, system requirements, and specifications accurately.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to ensure optimal solution design.
  • Provide technical validation and support application testing where required.
  • Identify product enhancement opportunities based on client feedback and industry trends.
Post-Sales Technical Support
  • Support field technicians with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Resolve technical challenges promptly to maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate escalated support cases with service, operations, and engineering teams.
  • Deliver customer training on system usage and best practices.
Key Account & OEM Relationship Management
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key strategic accounts.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for major customers.
  • Conduct account reviews to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Align technical solutions with customer growth objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with OEM partners, staying current with emerging technologies and product developments.
Revenue & Growth Contribution
  • Strengthen technical positioning to support sales targets and competitive differentiation.
  • Identify new application opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Contribute technical insights to forecasting and long-term account strategies.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Surveying
  • Essential: Surveying experience within the construction industry
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in technical support or applications engineering in construction
  • Experience with machine control systems, GNSS, and telematics
  • Strong training capability and customer-facing technical engagement skills
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to travel extensively nationally and occasionally into Africa
  • Able to meet physical, medical and health & safety requirements of construction and mining environments
  • Relationship-focused, service-oriented, and solutions-driven approach.
