Specialist HTA
Job Description
The HTA Specialist conducts evaluations of new and existing health technologies to support evidence based coverage decisions and clinical policy development. The role assesses clinical effectiveness, safety, cost effectiveness, and budget impact, contributing to sustainable benefit design and robust policy decisions. The Specialist also supports the broader HTA team with research, evidence synthesis, and technical analysis.
Experience & Qualifications- 1-2 years in HTA, evidence synthesis, research, health economics, managed care, or related fields.
- Experience evaluating medicines, devices, and clinical interventions.
- Familiarity with HTA frameworks
- Exposure to health technology assessments (HTAs) or evidence based policy development
- Experience in medical schemes, health insurers, or health policy environments is advantageous.
- Conduct full and rapid HTAs using systematic, transparent methodologies.
- Evaluate clinical evidence from trials, guidelines, meta analyses, real world data, and regulatory submissions.
- Support cost effectiveness modelling, comparative analyses, and budget impact assessments.
- Prepare HTA reports and recommendations for governance committees.
- Conduct literature reviews, horizon scanning, and critical appraisal of clinical and economic evidence (e.g., GRADE, CHEERS).
- Translate HTA findings into coverage criteria, eligibility rules, and utilisation guidelines.
- Support formulary updates, reimbursement decisions, and value based contracting work.
- Present findings to multidisciplinary teams and prepare audit ready governance documentation.
- Collaborate with clinicians, actuaries, analysts, provider networks, and external experts; support appeals and regulatory queries.
- Maintain HTA dashboards, monitor post adoption outcomes, and identify trends, cost drivers, or unintended impacts.
