Tax Compliance Trainee
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented future Tax Practitioner who has completed a relevant qualification and wishes to enter into a formal traineeship under a recognised controlling body/professional body (SAIT or SAIPA).
The successful candidate will gain practical, hands on experience in tax compliance and administration across a diverse client base, including individuals, trusts, PBOs and companies and close corporations.
- In office role based in Grahamstown (Makhanda) or Johannesburg (Rivonia)
- R - R per month, dependent on prior experience and qualifications
- Full time Traineeship
- Preparation and submission of annual income tax returns for:
- Individuals
- Trusts
- Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs)
- Companies/Close Corporations
- Preparation and submission of provisional tax returns
- Preparation and filing of other returns, including third party returns and dividends tax
- Review assessment and assist in preparation of disputes
- Maintain client tax compliance status, and assist in obtaining Tax Clearance Pin (AIT's)
- Maintaining accurate client records and tax schedules
- Ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines
- Assisting with tax reconciliations and supporting documentation
- General tax related administrative support to senior practitioners
- Completed relevant qualification in accounting, taxation or a related field.
- Intention to complete a traineeship with one of the following recognised controlling bodies:
- SAIT
- SAIPA
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams
- Experience with Xero accounting and GreatSoft advantageous
- Familiarity with SARS eFiling
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Prior experience in a tax, accounting or audit environment advantageous
- Understanding of South African tax and administration legislation
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Strong time management and organisational skills
