Our client, a well-established company within the plastics manufacturing industry, is seeking a Raw Material / Inventory Control Supervisor for a permanent position. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the raw material team, managing stock control processes, and ensuring output, quality and compliance standards are maintained within a production environment.


Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • NQF 4 Supervisory Management Qualification

  • Certificate/Diploma in Raw Material Management or related field

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment (plastics manufacturing advantageous)

  • Strong knowledge of plastic manufacturing processes

  • Experience in inventory control, stock management and raw material issuing

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Experience working on Sage X3 or similar ERP system (advantageous)

  • Strong people management and supervisory skills

  • Sound understanding of GMP, quality control and food safety standards

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills

  • Conflict management and diversity management skills


Key Responsibilities
Raw Material & Inventory Control Management

  • Manage raw material stock control and inventory systems

  • Issue raw material to production and record all stock movements

  • Process purchasing requisitions and follow up on raw material orders

  • Receive and inspect raw materials from suppliers

  • Order and manage masterbatch stock

  • Conduct regular stock takes and inspect raw material waste

  • Monitor output, downtime and deviations

  • Assess raw material usage in production and provide feedback to management

  • Prepare raw material for trials and production runs

  • Implement systems to improve material control and reduce waste


Personnel Management

  • Supervise, lead and motivate the raw material team (including grinders and mixers)

  • Monitor workflow and ensure production targets are achieved

  • Conduct performance reviews, counselling and disciplinary processes where required

  • Train and develop team members through practical hands on guidance

  • Promote continuous improvement and teamwork

  • Ensure subordinates report quality issues immediately

  • Communicate company goals, values and performance expectations clearly


Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with organisational health and safety standards

  • Maintain safe working practices within the department

  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses


Food Safety & Quality

  • Apply food safety principles and GMP standards

  • Ensure compliance with the Food Safety Management System (FSMS)

  • Maintain quality standards and conduct daily quality audits and visual inspections


Reporting & Administration

  • Ensure proper daily shift handovers

  • Oversee production bookings and accurate data capturing on Sage X3

  • Record waste and report to management

  • Ensure raw material bags and documentation reflect correct loading percentages, machine allocation and masterbatch details
