Role

The Accelerated Learning Project (ALP) is an incubated initiative of the DG Murray Trust. ALP works to improve foundational learning outcomes for children who are behind in literacy and numeracy. Through structured methodologies, strong partnerships, and on-the-ground implementation support, ALP strengthens schools and systems to ensure every child can catch up and succeed.

In order to ensure the optimal functioning of ALP's work, we are looking to employ a highly organised, proactive, and solutions-oriented Operations and Events Officer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on systems, logistics, and delivering high-quality events that support learning and advocacy goals

  • A relevant qualification in operations or administration management
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in operations of a small to medium-sized organisation.
  • Experience managing operational logistics and budgets
  • Excellent computer skills, including use of Project Management systems, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Additional qualifications or experience that will be an added advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with a wide-range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage oneself in a complex and dynamic work environment.
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous in planning and executing all functions.
  • Proactive and goal-oriented.
  • Confident and able to share ideas.
  • Able to coordinate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve ALP operational systems and standardised protocols aligned with organisational policies.
  • Maintain and oversee a centralised information management system, ensuring all key ALP documentation is accurate, up to date, and easily accessible.
  • Ensure the ALP team understands and adheres to administrative, logistical, and operational systems and processes.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the ALP team, including documentation management and quality assurance checks.
  • Coordinate and manage all travel logistics for the ALP team in line with organisational and grant requirements.
  • Lead end-to-end logistics for ALP workshops, training sessions, advocacy engagements, and mobilisation events.
  • Conceptualise, design, and manage the ALP events portfolio in collaboration with programme leads, ensuring events are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate suppliers and service providers, including sourcing quotes, processing invoices, and ensuring procurement compliance.
  • Track and monitor operational budgets monthly.
  • Liaise across internal functions (programme, finance, leadership, and external partners) to ensure smooth and effective delivery of ALP activities.
  • Review contracts and manage contracting processes related to ALP operations and events.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to project design, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Provide ad hoc operational and project management support as required.
